events ~ the lot launch ~ canal walk

Last Thursday I went to the launch of The Lot at Canal Walk, and what a fantastic evening it was! Conveniently located opposite Honey Child and YDE, this is the place to be at Canal Walk. On arrival we were spoiled with champagne and red velvet cupcakes as well as a personal tour of the new store by owner, Ash Battle.

Beautiful black and white canvas prints adorned the walls and sets the scene for a retro shopping experience. And the clothes! What beautiful pieces there were, I simply did not know where to look first! There were maxi dresses, gorgeous jumpsuits, crop tops, high-waisted denim shorts and so much more.

Thank you to the lovely ladies for being so helpful!

Spilt Milk swimsuits, gorgeous!

The ladies could have their nails done by Nail Dresses; 'I <3 the Lot' Nail Dresses were made for the occasion. Too lovely!

Girls being girls, my friend Tara and I had about 15 pieces to try on; eventually we narrowed it down to two gorgeous pieces - Tara bought a gorgeous cardigan and I am absolutely in love with the polka dot vest I bought, lucky girls!

There was also a small section of Wardrobe pieces, a store which Ash also owns. I also was lucky enough to meet Jo Alexander who owns the clothing label Moth Clothing - also such beautiful pieces!

Jo Alexander and Ash Battle - was lovely to meet you both!

I <3 The Lot :)

All in all the shop looked aboslutely amazing, and there is no doubt that it will be hugely successful!
Congratulations Ash!

St Yves, being one of Cape Town's most sought after Camps Bay beach clubs was sure to put on a spectacular event when they opened its doors to media, celebs and VIPs alike. And a spectacular event it was indeed!

Guests were greeted with champagne and oysters on arrival and later indulged in the Simply Italian tapas tasting.
Entertainment included live ice sculpture demonstrations by Ice Art as well as a mini fashion show which exhibited the latest fashions from Diligo and jewellery by JOYA - (absolutely gorgeous stuff, do yourself a favour and take a look at their websites).

Theme: Larger than Life

Amazing day had by all. Mingling with the rich and famous. The outfits as you can see from the above photos were beautiful, the vibe was amazing, the horse races were great fun. The J&B Met of 2011 was most definitely LARGER THAN LIFE.

The J&B Met - Larger than Life

Held on the last Saturday of January every year, it is the gathering of the rich and famous; the fashion savvy and those who seek to explore the intensity of life in the craziness of the crowds of over 50 000.
Socially, the J&B Met is renowned throughout the country as one of the most prestigious events in the  Cape Town calendar. It is a celebration of 'beauty and magnificance', with 'majestic thoroughbreds' and beautiful people.

I was lucky enough to win 2 free tickets to the marquee!

The J&B Met will be held on the 29th of January 2011 at the Kenilworth Racecourse. Theme: Larger than Life. Tickets start at R165, gates open at 10am. Hope to see you there :)

A Day of Glamour at the Queens Plate

On January the 8th I made my way to Kenilworth Racecourse to take part in a day of glitz and glamour known as the L'Ormarins Queens Plate.

"The 150th running of the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate will celebrate the royal history of this premier horse race with a gathering of the most noble thoroughbreds in Africa. Since 1861, when this race was first run in honour of Queen Victoria, the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate has distinguished itself as a sophisticated meeting of racing excellence, matched by the style and grace worthy of such a prestigious event."

The dress code is strictly blue and white and I was in pure fashion heaven. The ladies and the gents pulled out all the stops for the big day and everyone looked absolutely stunningly chic.

I've picked out some random photos from the day so you can get a taste of what I was seeing wherever I looked. Capetonians truly are a stylish bunch!
