Guests were greeted with champagne and oysters on arrival and later indulged in the Simply Italian tapas tasting.

What Shall I Wear Today? - romance in the park

To everyone and anyone reading this - I have been absolutely terrible with my blog maintenance; I have been so out of touch it is ridiculous. However, I do have an excuse, whether it reasonable or not, here goes: After much deliberation I have been saving up for brand new camera, because after looking at the quality of my photos on my blog, I really wasn't happy with them, and I did not want to post further photos with such shocking quality. I finally have my beautiful little camera now - the Sony WX10 and she is beauuuutiful!
Thus I no longer have an excuse not to post on my blog!

The outfit in this post was taken in beautiful park I had no idea existed, even though I've driven past it hundreds of times in Claremont, Cape Town.
It makes fort the most beautiful setting for outfit posts, so I will definitely be using it more in the future!

This is currently one of my favourite in-between-spring-and-summer outfits, and its got such a romantic feel to it; so girly, which I love :)
The pleated midi skirt is from Mr Price, the white cropped shirt from YDE, bag from China Town and bracelet from Woolworths.

we love ~ summer in winter

Sometimes a girl just needs a bit of 'me' time, and as I am the only one lucky enough out of my friends who does not work in an office during the day, with a lot of free time to spare, I decided to make the most of the beautiful weather that is still going strong in Cape Town. So off I went to the Kirstenbosch Gardens to spend a couple of hours soaking up the sun, reading my book and snapping some gorgeous photos. Cape Town truly is a place of beauty and it is definitely a city I can see myself settling down in in the future once I've gotten the travel bug out of my system :)
I wore a bright turquoise strapless dress, packed a blanket, my book and my ipod, some snacks and had a lovely lovely day, just me, myself and I :)

What Shall I Wear Today? - velvet and chiffon

I have just gotten back from a wonderful run on the promenade in Sea Point, and it truly is another beautiful summers-day-in-winter in Cape Town today. This being said - of course the day called for shorts :) I paired my favourite pair of high-waisted velvet navy shorts with a cute chiffon blouse in navy and white. I then added a tan belt to compliment my tan moccasins (I hardly ever wear them, but they are so comfortable, I definitely need to get more use out of them).
I'm sure by now you all know I am absolutely in love with navy blue, it's just such an easy colour to wear, day or night, and looks sooo nice with tan accessories :)

What Shall I Wear Today? - blazer & shorts

The weather has been extraordinary in Cape Town this week; its the middle of July (in other words: winter) and the weather is warm enough to wear shorts, crazy. There can still be a bit of a chill in the air though, so a light blazer or jersey is still necessary. Today I mixed together some neutral colours and added a bit of girlishness with a leopard print Alice band. I love how blazers compliment your body shape; they cut at the exact right part of our body, just below your hips, and look especially good with shorts. I did not manage to take a photo of the shoes I wore as I was in a bit of a rush to get to work, but I wore a pair of African beaded sandals.

belt - vintage

Sitting Pretty

I have recently landed myself a job at a shop called Sitting Pretty on 111 Long Street Cape Town (very close to MeMeMe and Mungo and Jemima). Yes, I am in my element; surrounded by beautiful clothes and people all day. *sigh*.
The shop truly has some amazing stuff, and I get to listen to legit old school LP records all day, can you say heaven?

There are a range of designers’ stock in the shop, including the Sitting Pretty label itself (the clothes are made at the back of the shop by Papa, the sweetest sweetest man, and great company on the 9 hour working days).  Other designers include Babette, Myabi and Frolic.
As we have already established, I have quite the shopping problem and have already purchased a good couple of things (thanks to my 50% - yes FIFTY percent - staff discount).
Some of their stock includes this striped blue and white top (yes I bought it); it’s loose and so comfy for a casual day at varsity or just relaxing with friends. Paired with a hot pair of jeans or denim shorts and a fedora and you are good to go.
Lesotho Racerback

One of the newest items in the Sitting Pretty label is the Lesotho Racerback dresses, gosh I love love love them, just waiting for pay day so I can buy one! Perfect paired with a pair of gladiator sandals for a day spent shopping in Long Street J

(The photos are the wrong way around, sorry about that, laptop is just NOT working with me today).

Here are a few more photos so you can get an idea of the merchandise available and how sweet the shop is. oh and by the way we sell amazing coffee there for R12, so pop in for a cup and a browse :)

1 x Jumpsuit Please!

I have been so lazy, and for that I apologize girls J
Okay ladies, before I go on and on and on about how much I want one... let me clarify something. The title of this post is actually a little off the mark. I say jumpsuit – you hear ‘romper’.
Jumpsuit, romper....? Huh?
Okay so simply: a jumpsuit is a ‘jumper with pants whereas a romper is a jumper with shorts.
The jumpsuit/romper is here to stay for 2010 and I’ve already snagged myself a vintage floral one from an amazing vintage shop in Observatory in Cape Town (next to Zion ant the end of Milton Street). I am now on the lookout for a strapless dark floral one, so keep your eyes open for me girls! J

Love Kourtney's floral romper!

A black piece is extremely flattering.

As Kristin knows too :)

The jumpsuit gives a tall, lean and slimming look – something we ALL want! Take a look at Jumpsuits and Rompers: How to Wear and Choose This Trendy Item for You to find a jumpsuit [romper] that will suit your body type and help you decide where to wear it.
Rompers were all the rage at Rocking the Daisies this year. Keep a look out for my next post on ‘Fashion at the Daisies’.
